Beetroot is known for its many health benefits, great taste and delicious color, making it one of the most appreciated and nutritious foods in Sweden. They contain inorganic nitrates that are converted to nitric oxide in the body, which can improve blood flow, lower blood pressure and increase stamina. Beets are also high in fiber and packed with vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, iron, potassium, magnesium and folic acid.
Beetroot is versatile and fits perfectly into a balanced and healthy diet. They can be used in a variety of dishes, from fresh salads and refreshing juices to warm dishes and delicious desserts. No matter how they are prepared, beetroots remain a favorite Swedish ingredient, prized for both their nutritional qualities and their great taste.
The cultivation of beetroot is well adapted to the Swedish climate, especially here in southern Sweden where the Stegling beetroot fields are located. The conditions are very favorable. Beets are usually sown in the spring and harvested in the fall, and they thrive in the well-drained and nutrient-rich soil.
Growing beetroot has a low environmental impact as it can be grown without large amounts of chemicals and pesticides. When you choose Swedish, you support local trade and keep transport costs down, and in production we have uses for virtually all sizes and qualities, keeping waste to a minimum.
At Steglinge we wash, pack, process and pre-cook the beets. We supply loose and packed beets to shops, shredded and split beets to foodservice, pre-cooked beets in consumer packs or large packs, and peeled beets in octabins to industry. We work with the largest wholesalers, distributors and retailers in the market. If you buy pre-cooked beets in a store, have a fresh salad with beets for lunch or a delicatessen beet in a restaurant, there is a good chance that they come from us. We also look after EKO farms and are big on yellow and polka beets.
